About us

Community

We are dancers of many ages: babies in carry packs, to children with parents, to university students, to seniors in their 90s. Some folks have been dancing for decades, while others are trying contra for the first time. We joyfully welcome everyone!

It is wonderful to see old friends who are just coming back after a hiatus, and fun to help newcomers discover the delights of dancing. No need to bring a partner, you’ll end up dancing with nearly everyone!

Come dance with us!

Volunteer with us

Volunteers make our dance happen, and get FREE admission! We typically offer 2-3 volunteer shifts each dance.

We send our volunteer email list an email listing the available shifts in the week leading up to the dance, and volunteers can reply requesting their shift. Shifts are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you know you cannot make your assigned shift, please email our volunteer coordinator ASAP so we can find a replacement!

Typical volunteer shifts include:

  • Door greeter (~45 minutes during the dance): greet arriving dancers and take admission. A committee member is usually nearby if you have questions!

  • Set up (6:15pm - 7:00pm): assist committee members with putting up signs, setting out chairs, sweeping the dance floor, etc.

  • Clean up (10:00pm - 10:30ish): assist committee members with taking down signs, putting away chairs, sweeping the dance floor, bagging trash, vacuuming rugs, etc.

Our committee

Our dances are run by our organizing committee, on a 100% volunteer basis. We meet once a month, as well as attending our dances.

Email us if you are interested in helping!

Our Dancing For All Fund

We believe that the joy of dancing should be available to everyone, regardless of their economic circumstances. In 2024, we started our Dancing For All Fund to provide free or discounted admission to anyone who asks.

Pay what you can ($0 is fine!) and we will cover your remaining admission with the Dancing For All Fund. This ensures our performers still receive their fair pay. We also encourage dancers experiencing economic hardship to consider signing up for a volunteer shift, which gives you free admission.

The Dancing For All Fund is 100% donation-based. If you want to help our dancers experiencing economic hardship, you can mark a donation as specifically for this project!
